Some people get up in the morning and go to work out of obligation
or financial need. I go to work because the classroom is the place where I feel most alive and creative. The time
I spend working with kids and helping them to unravel the mysteries of reading, writing and understanding the world around
them cannot be matched by any other activity. I love to teach. It's who I am.
I enjoy making each year a little more exciting and interesting than the year before it. I believe that I can use things
I learned from my previous class to fine-tune my teaching for the upcoming year. As each class is filled with different
types of learners with different needs, I will always learn more from my students than they learn from me, and I hope to always
apply what I learn to help the next students who enter my room. That's why I love teaching- no two days are ever the
same, and no two years will ever be identical. I can grow and change continually.
I am the teacher that I am today because of the men and women who taught me. I was given a great gift of amazing teachers
who inspired and challenged me. I learned from an early age that it was not good enough to just "get by". I was
expected to go beyond the surface and apply what I learned to my world. I hope to have high expectations for all of
my students and inspire them to do the same.
